Bridging people with AI agents.

I'm Sangwook Lee, a second-year Ph.D. candidate at Virginia Tech Computer Science, advised by Prof. Sang Won Lee in the echolab. My research sits at the intersection of Human-AI Interaction (HAI), social computing, and accessibility.

I design and study AI-based agents that bridge gaps between people. My Ph.D. research unfolds across two threads:

  • Bridging the knowledge gap: In collaborative organizations (e.g., university research labs), a knowledge agent draws on everyday communication to build and maintain organizational memory, reducing information asymmetry among members.
  • Bridging the digital divide: In complex digital systems (e.g., movie ticket booking), a UI agent adapts the interface and navigation to user preferences, reducing accessibility gaps across user populations.
